Troubled times?

I say (meta, poly, mega) crisis,
he says, “we’ve been here before”.

I see a world unravelling,
a people divided,
a better future struggling to be born,
a generation waiting to break out.

He sees the continuities,
the possibilities in the powers that be,
a better future about to be born,
a space in the centre to transform from within.

I ponder
if there are places to walk away,
if changing consciousness could be a way.

Is that the age, the history?
Am I naive, misinformed?
Am I too steeped in the troubles,
to see the shoots of what's to come?

Or am I attuned to other signals,
noticing what we’ve been taught to neglect,
sensible to other tunes and microtones?

We shall find out in time.
Until then, I wonder…
